V3b Kaleidoscope

Post by Bryherboy »

Just upgraded to v3 Beta, but there doesn't appear to be an option to fill out the corners of a kaleidoscope effect, as there has been in V2.5. Does anyone have a work around for this, or know why it might have been omitted?

Here's the kaleidoscope that shipped with Magic, reworked into a mirror kaleidoscope with the corner gap fixed. A few more features than the original makes it more predictable and versatile. Here are the more interesting ones.

Radial Mirror - the reflections carry on outwards and distorts the input. Use with Flow.
Mirror / Repeat - the source tiles in x and y removes the gap.
Clamp - stretches the kaleidoscope edge outwards with smearing to the edge of the output.
Transparent - the original Magic 3.00 behaviour, gap and all.

Rotation: rotates the tiled the output without clipping. This parameter is unbounded so Ramp and Increase modifiers can both be used and driven by audio.

Source Spin: turns the (tiled) image inside the mirrors without moving them for some intricate effects without additional nodes.

Flow (Radial only): marches the reflections outwards from the centre, for ever, without moving the mirrors or the source. Cyclic and unbounded so it loops exactly.

Src X/Y: slides the source under the mirrors without moving them. A continuous one-way slide across the mirror-tiled source: it never reverses and never shows a seam. Cyclic and unbounded so a Ramp and Increase modifiers loops and run forever.
