Does it crash no matter the export settings? Or only with one particular codec, etc.?

so far it hard crashes with openh264 .mp4 and motionjpeg .mov

it completes successfully with image sequence .png

I've double checked intel graphics drivers and added latest as of today

I tested exporting movies for empty scene and starfield scene projects with no sound and both completed OK.
Adding an .mp3 file to the project crashed on export.
Adding a .wav file to the project crashed on export.


Surface Pro 11 All Intel Version - OS and other drivers are up to date.

If ffmpeg is in your path, it's likely that Magic is using your ffmpeg version, which is not compatible with Magic's ffmpeg version.

Try removing ffmpeg from your path and see if it works.

I changed computers thinking I could get the export movie on my desktop but...

Magic export movie crashes immediately on my hp envy desktop same symptoms. Different project.

in case ffmpeg was an issue on this computer, which USED to run Magic export movie OK, I added a bew path to my ffmpeg for audacity - now Magic export movie waits to crash until the end of the export.

On both computers new and old the consistent change is I keep Windows 11 OS and Intel graphics drivers up to date.

I have two copies of Magic one per computer and now neither exports .mp4 correctly.

Is there a new mp4 driver needed???

You have to remove ffmpeg from the path. Otherwise Magic will use the wrong ffmpeg version, which is incompatible.

I never had ffmpeg in the path in either computer. I think the Windows OS 11 updates are the problem.

I will use OBS to record movies instead.

I’ve run into similar crashes using Magic on the newer Intel Surface Pros, especially during video export. From my experience, it usually comes down to driver or software compatibility issues.
