Re: made a little tutorial about video editing & encoding

@espen, it takes some getting used to but once you see past the clutterness, blender often allows for a fast workflow (eg. once you know the key shortcuts, you're very fast at doing things, but it's tedious at first). but hey itcs free and low budget, so what i get for that is pretty cool. but yes, ...

remapping midi OR ignore incoming midi notes

what i want: use different ranges of notes on my midi piano for different input selectors. what happenes: both ranges control both selectors, which is problematic as i want to control them seperately. solution ideas: -some modifier/expression magic to have the inputSelector ignore certain ranges of ...

made a little tutorial about video editing & encoding

hi guys i made a little video tutorial about editing and encoding your stuff in blender. topics explained: how to import into and export and encode out of blender using h264. how to do a simple loop/fade of an unloopable video, how to mess with resolution and aspect ratio, how to cut out the first f...

Re: Uploading Magic Music Visuals to Youtube

usually yt recompresses the video, so in order ro get nnice quality try to use more bitrate. for 1280x720@30fps i usually chose 5-10Mbit/s, so for 60fps 10-20Mbit/s. to account for yts recompression i'd double that again, so 20-40 Mbit/s. If you want actual fullhd, use 1920x1080 and 40-80Mbit/s. che...

Re: Video file size

Hi Blackdot, Thanks for your detailed reply confirming that duration and bitrate are the determining factors for file size, but it doesn't shed any light on the issue I am experiencing with exporting from MMV. Halving the bitrate for a video should halve the file size - it doesn't. I have created t...

Re: Video file size

bitrate and duration are what determines the filesize, thats correct. bitrate is how many bits per second you have and duratuon how many seconds you have. i usually am using vimeo's compression guidelines for the bitrate: https://vimeo.com/help/compression. note that these are for the h264 codec. th...

Re: 3 first frames are black. Why?

https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads/Magic_UsersGuide.html#GraphicsResolution set the resolution here so the content is produced in this res. then export in the same resolution. if instagram says they want 1.91:1 for widescreen and 1080 pixel is the max width, that would mean the height is 1080/1...

Re: 3 first frames are black. Why?

i think the workflow for this should look like this: - find out what resolution and aspect ratio are recommended for instagram - create your magic scenes to fit those - export directly to video in magic or - export to a png sequence and then convert that with a 3rd party tool (like blender, ffmpeg, ...

question about sampling frequency

i want to buy a hdmi splitter. in its specs it says: Max. Resolution: Up to 4096 x 2160 / 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:2:0); 4096 x 2160 / 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz (4:4:4) what i want is 1920x1080@60Hz, bit i dont know what sampling frequency my hdmi signal (or magics hdmi signal) is, e.g. 4:4:4, 4:2:2, 4:2:0, e...

Re: Last 10 nodes palette

that would be nice. i keep setting up default scenes with the most important modules wich i then copy paste around. to be quicker than the rmb menu. another option would be key shortcuts for that.

module and video files

hi, for magic is there a performance gain when two modules use the same input file, of some sort of instacing maybe? imagine, if you use the same video files and put them next to each other using video modules. one of them is supposed to be smaller though. would it now be better to create a second v...

hmm okay, thats what i feared. today i did some more testing: - clean-reinstalled most recent gpu drivers just in case all that gpu switching messed sth up - made a ram disk - used different rams - made a ram disk with those rams everything to no avail thoug. thanks for looking into this, i think th...

finding the bottleneck

I have this second desktop computer, but its processor and mainboard are quite old (only pcie 1.1 and sata II). however i still want to use it for magic. Unfortunately the second computer performs at about 18fps, while my first desktop performs with about 60fps in the same scene. I'm litteraly takin...
