Ive been using Magic for about 8 months now and am considering getting my first MIDI. Lots of questions
1) Is there differences between a MIDI audio controller and video controller?
2) Does Magic Performer support all MIDI's?
3) Best place to look for MIDI
4) how do I hook up MIDI to Magic Performer?
5) Do I need a secondary program for my MIDI? How do I configure the keys/buttons to the videos and effects I want?
6) Any sites you can refer me to for information? I've already checked all over youtube.
Thank you!

Re: Questions about MIDI
1) no difference - they're the same devices
2) Yes
3) Look to buy, look to learn, look in MV?
4) Plug it in, let the driver install, add an input in the Audio/Midi window, choose your device from the list
4.1) https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... #MIDIInput
5) No. Click the Source/Feature label to learn then touch the controller

Re: Questions about MIDI
basically midi is just a protocol for data packets. a midi controller, eg. a piano keyboard just outputs certain signals when you press a button, eg. signal 1, signal 2, and so on. magic receives these signals, and you can do whatever you like with them. additionaly, midi controllers usually come with their own software to change what your controller does output.
connection work like this: you install your midi device, drivers usually come with the hardware, or are available on the manufacturers site or are obtained automatically (eg via windows update). if installed correctly, magic will automatically detect this device as a midi input source. be sure to try out the auto detect feature of magic, or read up on it in the manual.
cheers
\edit: that's already pretty solid advice. this community rocks

Re: Questions about MIDI
awesome thanks for the quick feedback.
have either of you used the app Piano for you as a MIDI controller for magic? Theres another thread in the forums I found that talked about it and I've downloaded the app, as well as Loop and MSMIDIWIFI and now im having trouble getting the App to successfully send MIDI signals to Magic. I had it working for a second and now I'm stuck lol
