DXV video codec
DXV video codec
Is it be possible to add the Resolume DXV codec to the supported media - video formats? I would like to be able to open my loops and animations in both Magic and Resolume without having to keep 2 different copies.
Re: DXV video codec
The problem with DXV is that it's not open source (and has no developer documentation, as far as I know), and it requires QuickTime. Magic doesn't use QuickTime because it's an old and limited technology -- it doesn't have good 64-bit support, and it doesn't fully support Windows 8 or 10 (https://support.apple.com/kb/DL837?locale=en_US).
It still might be possible for me to get DXV to work by itself, because it is "unofficially" supported in the video engine that Magic uses. But it will require some clever hacking on my part to get full GPU acceleration, and I can't make any promises, especially since there is no documentation.
I strongly recommend you take a look at the Hap codec (http://vdmx.vidvox.net/blog/hap), which is pretty much the same thing as DXV, but is supported in a *lot* more VJ software, including Magic. Resolume will be supporting Hap in future releases, at least according to some posts on their forum: http://resolume.com/forum/viewtopic.php ... =20#p43325
