Hi
As a musician, I'm really not a visual expert, and have no technical Knowledge about pixels and others visual things....but I find this very interesting.
So as magic is a visual software, I just want to share it :

Gamma compression
Re: Gamma compression
Interesting. But if everyone is doing it the wrong way, doesn't that make it right?

Re: Gamma compression
Very many thanks for sharing. I hadn't considered the importance of working in linear colour space and didn't realise that the sRGB specification includes a specific intensity transfer function ("Gamma").damstraversaz wrote:Hi

Further, from the Wikipedia link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRGB in the above article I learned that GPU manufacturers provide specific hardware support for their OpenGL drivers to directly address these issues with no performance penalty. Very interesting indeed.
I also found these articles relating to Linear space, perhaps of interest to others too. The third thread shows that the Adobe Premiere video editor addresses the issue, even if Adobe Photoshop does not.
