Could magic control adressable rgb LED stripes?

Post by blackdot »

After a few search queries i found info on how to adress adressable led stripes with an arduino. But can we get magic to controll an arduino? Or what other option could i pursue to have magic controll custom leds instead of or in addition to projectors/monitors?

In my head it seems like the best solution would be to use external hardware that converts video to a format LEDs could understand. I found this by doing some searching: https://www.adafruit.com/products/1453. It accepts DVI input, so it would probably work for any DVI/HDMI output from a computer. Therefore you could use Magic (or any other program) to generate video as normal, and send it through the converter.

Or if the LED strip accepts direct video input, that would work too.

What do you think?

nice, didnt find this on my initial search. although rather expensive, after watching a few minutes of the video there, it seems promising.
