Exporting .png resets the current scene rotations and colours

Post by Alex96 »

Dear All,

I never had the requirement before, to export single pictures from MMV.
I am still on v2.33 on a MAC, because I want to avoid any shader trouble in open projects, just to mention.
I can go via the Movie Export function and do there the export job, but when having rotating objects, it always does a kind of a Reset when starting the export, same happens to my Midi controlled colour scemes. That means, doing an export will always result in the same picture, even if its a dynamic project. So of course I want to have some different pictures. The idea with the sequence of pictures is really awsome, but my rotations go slowly and not synchron, that means I have to export hundreds or thousands of pictures to get some kind of different ones.
Maybe there is any other way to export without this unwanted Reset, or I am doing something wrong?
Best would be something like an export "on the fly"? Maybe there is a trick to do?
I installed the demo version of 2.5 on my office PC, to check for any changes, but can not see there anything like that.
I tried already the "ignore restart" without any changes.
Does anyone have an idea for me?

If you just want to get random single frames then why not do system screenshots while Magic is in fullscreen mode? That's much easier and more dynamic than exporting. Is it because your screen resolution isn't high enough?

I'm not sure what "trouble" you're referring to?

Hm, not really big trouble, but inconviniencies and quality losses.

1. When doing a screenshot - I can do in the studio thats fine- but during a runnig event/show, all additional tools are noticable on the screen of a videostream going out - so screenshot on the fly is not a good idea - maybe you know a tool that does the job IN SILENCE in the background. On my MAC it does NOT. (CMD + shift + F3 or F4) starts a funnel grafik and makin a photo noise - having all live in the show.

2. The graphic resolution of the screenshot is the resultion of my desktop, NOT the resolution of the MMV output stream
Which results in a loss of quality, because it has to be reformatted at least twice.

3. So exporting was the idea - but there I have the issue, that it breaks my running sequence and always starting from the same point again, when initializing the export process...

So that brought to me the question, if there is any other way or capturing option in MMV? Especially in the PERFORMER edition?

So what you want to do is save the current output frame at its actual resolution while you're using Magic in a live situation?

Yes, that was the idea - because on my last event I was asked from the customer, to make some pictures and/or shots from the show.
To be honest, I am havin hands on MMV since a couple of years, already and never had a request like that before.
But - the longer I was thinking, the more I was looking for a way and I saw an additional use for MMV in
Creating amazing shots, not only videos, for use in media shows, projecror beamers and presentations or to be just only the seed for other MMV modules, either....
