Studio version pc-pc output with alpha transparency?

Hello,
I appear to have got myself into a bind with this software. We've purchased the studio version a few days before the event as it lists support for "all the necessary functionality to create beautiful professional-quality music videos and real-time music visualizations" and a bit of googling showed NDI support which means that we could run graphics on one laptop and output to the screens from another with our videos via OBS. I now (after several hours of faffing with no error dialogues or logs) have figured out that the studio version doesn't support spout (which I knew) and NDI (which you know once you look at the github page and the user guide and work out the MDK is required)... Bugger... We've already blown the budget...
OK, well let's just make static overlay graphics and use magic fullscreen on the OBS laptop... Oh, can't do that as you can't capture the window output, only a whole screen... Same for if I attempt to capture it on NDI Screen capture...
Is there any way I can get the magic window into OBS from a separate computer with alpha transparency with the studio version or have I just dug myself into a hole?
(p.s I also found a guaranteed way to cause a CTD within a few clicks of launching a fresh application, but can't find a bug reports section in the forum).
