As you know, double-click is already taken.

I hear ya, but a double click isn't vastly less cumbersome than the menu. The fact that there are (at least) three ways to start a scene (arrow, double-click, menu) ignoring automation and playlist gives you sense of the priorities of Magic - which I am onboard with.
Maybe a different key combination or, if there are additional edit benefits that come along with it, an edit mode, like the preview mode, that turns the folder and global lists into a spreadsheet-like UI for fast multi-edits.
Personally, I've been reluctant to make any suggestions with the major release in the works. But there are a couple of UI/UX features that I don't recall being suggested (though I'm sure the devs will be wholly aware of them and have reasons). Arithmetic in fields (e,g, 3.1415*2), minimap, pan/zoom gizmo, collapse null to dot, graph search (in media, annotations and values), organise selection vertically and similar.
