Using Magic to add effect to restream.io

Post by hsteph »

Hi community,

I'm using restream.io to stream live on YT, Twitch, ... via my Chrome browser.
I'm on Windows 10.

Is there any option to use MMV as an effect processor ? Stream should be redirected to MMV, then back to restream.io, in real time.

Any clue?
Thanks for your help

I understand that restream.io is RTMP compatible.
Does it help ?

There's three ways to get video out (and in) to Magic: Spout (or Syphon), NDI or HDMI (to a streaming or capture device). You can Spout or NDI to streaming software that supports RTMP streams - e.g. OBS. OBS supports Spout and NDI.

Magic has native Spout in and out and NDI plugins (nodes) for NDI. Audio support in Magic is limited (no audio from video, streams, webcams) so you will require other software (e.g. OBS) to handle audio.

I don't know restream but it seems it is just a stream distribution service with its own streaming software but can also use 3rd party.

It can be done but is complicated and a bit laggy.

thanks for the info,

On the restream.io app, I can only generate an URL like this : rtmps://live.restream.io:1937/live

which component (or script) on the MMV side should I investigate ?

The rmtp address is for the streaming app, not Magic.

The video from Magic goes to the streaming app via Spout, NDI or HDMI. The streaming app then forwards the video (and audio) to rmtp.
