VideoFile Module / controls for Insta360 files (.insv)

Post by thedoger82 »

Hi there, hope everything's good!!

Well, i was editing a insta360 video, to work with it in magic, but i realized magic can open the .insv files. so, my request is, would it be possible to "upgrade" the VideoFile module, making the camera control 'public'?

Thanks a lot!!!

I'm not totally certain what you mean by "making the camera control public". There are shaders to control the xy direction and zoom of equirectangular video and photos but the insv file would also require stitching, which is quite an intensive process. I think some 360 cameras do in-camera stitching but they're on the expensive end - would be cool as a webcam input though.
Here is a video of some 360 stills moved and blended in Magic:

Sorry taking this long to answer back, I really didnt know what to answer, but, yes, you understood well what i meant, to have pan control over the .invs files, so, i have a couple of questions,

why magic can playback .invs files?

what's a shader which let me manipulate the pan of the .invs files?

Thanks thanks thanks!!!

INVS files are HEVC MP4s with a different extension. Any program that can play HEVC can play INVS including Magic. Magic uses ffmpeg in the background which supports a good number of file formats (it even does text files). But nothing (except Insta360 Studio or Vegas Pro) will stitch the two camera fisheyes together, you must do this first to convert it to equirectangular. Then you can use this IFS to zoom and pan.
