would be cool to have buttons to switch between the modes on the blend module like we can flip through images on the JpegFolder module.

In v2.11 (or later), if you click on the word "Mode", you can use your up/down keyboard arrows to browse through the options. This will work for any drop-down box.

I know that. But when I click it, it opens and I need to click it again so it closes. Then I can use the arrow keys to properly switch btw. the modes.

Having up and down buttons as mentioned would ease this process and improve usability.
Since you mentioned "This will work for any drop-down box." I would like to extend my feature request to any drop-down box

Don't click on the drop-down box. Click on the word "Mode" to the left
