complete newbie question

Hi everyone!
For a project I need to have a video that reacts to sound (when there is sound, video plays, and when there is no sound, video stops). Here is the example, which, however, was made in an other application:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu7Dpf7buT0

I'm completely new in this world of sound-reactive visuals, so I would like to know if something like shown in the example would be possible to make in "Magic Music Visuals".

And if it is possible, would there be a limit of the video size and length?

Does anyone know how to do that?

Any help would really be appreciated

Marko

Hey Marko,

If you want to achieve exactly what's in the video then, yes, just put a "threshold" modifier on the "volume" source applied to a "Media File" speed parameter. The threshold will go to 1 when the audio volume meets the chosen threshold and will otherwise be zero, so the video will either play or not play according to the volume level.

But Magic can react to audio in a multitude of ways and the ways in which it can react is limited (mostly) by only your imagination, certainly not video size or length. Magic can play videos of any size and length and also export the same (although your hardware and to some extent the operating system limits come into play at high levels)

Here's a screenshot of what Sadler was describing, in case it's helpful.

You might also like it with no Threshold modifier, so I'd encourage you to play around. Up to you :).

Briefly, Ctrl+F (Windows) or Cmd+F (OSX/macOS).

From the User's Guide:

To enter and exit the Magic Window's fullscreen mode, select Window > Magic Window Options > Toggle Fullscreen or use the shortcut Ctrl+F / Cmd+F. On multi-display systems, the fullscreen toggle will first show the Magic Window on the main display, and then on every additional display, one at a time, before returning to windowed mode only. The mouse cursor will auto-hide when it is over a fullscreen view.
