i want to buy a hdmi splitter. in its specs it says:

Max. Resolution: Up to 4096 x 2160 / 3840 x 2160 @ 60Hz (4:2:0); 4096 x 2160 / 3840 x 2160 @ 30Hz (4:4:4)

what i want is 1920x1080@60Hz, bit i dont know what sampling frequency my hdmi signal (or magics hdmi signal) is, e.g. 4:4:4, 4:2:2, 4:2:0, etc)

any ideas? thanksalot

The sampling has to do mostly with the display device and a little bit with the graphics card. But it doesn't have anything to do with software.

Usually, all computer display signals are 4:4:4 (completely uncompressed, no loss of quality). 4:2:2 and 4:2:0 mean that there is some quality loss with the tradeoff of reduced bandwidth; these types of signals are usually used by camera/recording equipment to save disk space. It sounds like the splitter you are looking at is meant for these latter things.

If you want to split a signal from a computer, you probably want 4:4:4 if you are connecting to a standard projector. Personally, I can notice the difference between 4:4:4 and 4:2:2 because the colors start to get a tiny bit blurry. A lot of people wouldn't notice though.

But I'd just make sure you get a splitter that is designed for computer displays and explicitly supports 1920x1080 @ 60Hz (it may or may not explicitly say 4:4:4, because usually it's implied).
