Can not use Virtual / IAC Driver MIDI on mac

Post by Audaxgreen »

Hi All,

I'm having trouble connecting to the virtual midi device on OS X 10.11.4.

I am running Magic Performer v1.65 64-bit but when I use the Audio/MIDI Window the virtual midi channel is not an option as an input mapping.

I can see it from other applications - just not Magic??

Any ideaS?

Hmm, I just tried it on 10.11 and Magic has no problem seeing both the Network MIDI device and the IAC MIDI device. Did you make sure to select the "Device is online" box in the IAC config?

Yes, Device online is checked.

I did have it working earlier today when using the demo version, but it stopped seeing the MIDI, so I went ahead and purchased the full version ( I planned to so anyway) in the hope that a fresh install would fix it.

Oddly enough I do not see the Network midi either.

Here are a couple of screens showing a few couple of other app and the IAC MIDI setup. The other screen shows Magic unable to see Network MIDI device and the IAC MIDI device.

How do I force a clean uninstall / reinstall of Magic to see if that helps?

The only thing I can think of is that you may have accidentally disabled MIDI input. Have a look at the menu option Window > Disable All MIDI Input and make sure it is un-checked.

Re-installing won't really do anything, but if you want to delete your preferences, make sure Magic isn't running and then delete the Magic folder in ~/Library/Application Support.

YES!!! That was it - had turned off MIDI in the menu - all fixed now.

Thanks.
