Delaying input? (Cascade)

Post by georgeberlin »

Been thinking...

it'd be nice to set up a Midi slider and hook it up to, say, 3 things so that they get the input on a delay:

A- now
B- .5 seconds later
C- 1.0 seconds later

What's the purpose of this?

Imagine 3 concentric circles- when the signal hits, they grow from the center out in order on a delay.

Or, a slider can control the rotation of 12 polygons in a line, but it affects the first, then the second, etc to do a 'wave' if you will.

Is this possible? It'd be awesome, right?

:ugeek:

I'm looking to do straight up real-time midi-driven animation of 50 squares projected on to 50 physical boxes and I just love how straight forward Magic is, so I'm looking for ways to do things like this here.

Thanks again!

Maybe added under that 'Scale' 'Add' and 'Offset' section could be a 'Delay Input' setting?

Yup I'd thought about something like that. It's a good idea and it wouldn't be too hard to implement as a new modifier called "Delay".
