Hard Cut Playlist

Post by sjdacruz »

When I have scenes in the playlist to choose from (set to crossfade at 5sec), sending an input during a transition will stop in the middle of the transition, and hard cut to the other scene selected. Is there a way to over-ride this function and "wait" until the transition completes before accepting further inputs?

From the manual:
If a new entry is selected while a Crossfade or Additive Dissolve is underway, the new entry's scene will appear immediately; the transition will be canceled. This is because two scenes that are transitioning cannot simultaneously transition to a third scene. For a transition to complete properly, it must always be shown for a shorter amount of time than the entry itself. This is true for any method of playlist control.

I guess events could be postponed until the end of the transition but I can imagine a few issues with that.

True, yet ignoring the fact of a "third" scene... even if the input is repeated (such as a double entry to the same scene) it'll hard cut to that scene. Moreso, if a scene is already in focus, a secondary input to that scene will restart the scene's node at 0 position. Perhaps I'll look into my input method, and while a change is made, pause for a length longer than the transition time, to allow for smooth visual progression.
