Improvisation with Magic Music Visuals

I recently bought MMV Performer to help with an "improvlog" I created for my students. This is where I press record on the cameras and DAW, improvise, and then press STOP on everything. My plan was to export a MIDI file of what I played and run it through MMV, to get awesome visuals to composite with the footage. The problem: making the kind of graphics I envisioned was (still is) WAY over my head. I'm a music teacher, not a MMV wizard (yet).

So, I commissioned @skarabee (who frequents these forums) to create some projects for me, which were worth every penny. THANK YOU AGAIN, Skarabee! (You may recognize one of the graphics if you've seen any of his other amazing stuff.) I wish I could download his MMV brain.

I'm a piano teacher, so my style of music is a bit different from what I usually hear in this forum. But this is what I managed with MMV so far:

Improvisation in D flat major:

Improvisation in F minor:

Improvisation in B minor (This was my very first experiment with MMV, so I'm slightly embarrassed that it only uses demo projects that are included with Magic... I just wanted to try exporting something, But hey, my students don't know that.):

That's the extent of my knowledge for now... I'm very eager to understand MMV more!

Thanks @almilius... that was what excited me about MMV. When I was looking for a product to create visuals with, I read about Magic's MIDI capabilities (in Performer) and that's when my pulse started pounding. I think it's so cool that I can just start recording on my DAW, and play whatever comes without much of plan... and at the end, I have MIDI of it all and MMV knows what to do with it. That is EXACTLY what I was looking for. In other words, I don't have to have a clear vision right away of the graphics... they can be developed and tweaked after the fact as long as I have that MIDI.

My editing is still immature, I know, but at least it's fun. The music and editing are mine, but the actual MIDI driven graphics are all @skarabee. He did a bunch for me and most of it I haven't even used in a real project yet. So I have plenty to keep me busy and entertained and off the streets and out of trouble. @Skarabee is making the world a safer place...

I am also very interested in performing AND recording improvisations live in Magic... Exporting a movie file in non real time driven by an audio ( and or midi file ) works great! But also it would be great to be able to capture the real time surprises and discoveries while improvising with a live musician or pre-recorded track.. NOT knowing anything much about the complexity of programming such a thing.. Im wondering if it would be easy or horrendous to make a way to record and save all realtime parameter and scene changes in a performance to a data file which can then be played back and be reviewed/adjusted and or potentially recorded to a high quality movie file at any time??
great program already,
thanks Paul
