Experimenting with Circle Spectrum

Hey all,

I've been experimenting with the Circle Spectrum and I really like the results. Dubstep has insane sound design and Magic truly has a lot to offer!

Does anyone have any tips on utilizing the Circle Spectrum? I've been trying to make it 'more reactive' but I have a hard time achieving this without boosting the input.

For me the complete spectrum is waaay too noisy for dubstep. As you say, there's a lot of fantastic sound design and, IMHO, it deserves to have a more defined visual. This is what I tried to achieve with my dubstep speedometer experiment.

In order to achieve a cleaner visual with a circular Waveform as a base element this is what I like to do: scale and translate a non-circular waveform by an amount that focuses on a particular part (e.g. scale X by 30, translate X by 20). This give a much more pleasing rounded wave form compared to a spikey unscaled waveform. To put it into a circle, apply Cartesian to Polar distortion (or a circle wrap) and you have a stomping circular bass beat. Repeat as often as necessary for other parts of the spectrum. Unfortunately, there's a cut-off that you have to deal with, either with mirroring or hiding.

And you can also use the newer Spectrum module features as Eric demonstrated here and here.

Of course the unadorned circular waveform would work in many cases for more glitchy dubstep.

Hey just wanted to say that ur build here is sick. I love how the tracers/tracings seem to sometimes just hang out there, fizz, and crackle. Very cool!
