The Mask editor. Modules for mapping

Post by wonderlandMystic »

Congratulations for the program, I love to create in.
but it missing something. key and important for the current scene .
And it is, permitted, mappeo surface.
Working several layers, and leave this screen can be modeling.

For example vpt software.. This program has an interesting job of layers. and especially, add nodes. the mask editor.

If successfully integrate with this program.
or you can work on creating points and modify and add modeling the screen or screens, it would be an excellent program.

All the best.

If I'm understanding correctly, I think you are asking about projection mapping. I know a lot of people are interested in projection mapping, but I don't have any plans to implement it in Magic any time soon. Mainly because:
1) It's very complicated and takes a LOT of work to do well, and it's also not my area of expertise.
2) There are several good projection mapping programs out there already, and most can be used with Magic via Spout or Syphon, such as the one you mentioned. One or two are even available via FFGL plugins, I believe (like Mapio: http://visution.com/mapio).

If I ever did implement projection mapping, I would surely charge extra for it -- and not just a little bit :). For example, Mapio *starts* at 150 Eur, and that isn't even the Pro version. Magic's Pro version ("Performer") only costs $70 USD (around 65 in Eur).

But overall, it isn't really an issue of cost. I'd just rather spend my time implementing features that are unique to Magic.

Besides, you can already do many things in Magic that help for basic projection mapping, such as sending all your scenes through a set of geometry and image manipulations like rotations and masking. The menu command "Scene > Add/Update Post-Process Scene" exists for this purpose.

Sorry if this was more information than you needed but I just wanted to have an "official" post on this subject since I get asked about it a lot :).

p.s. It appears that Syphon is included in the main download of VPT for Mac, but there is a separate forum page for the Windows version with Spout support: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searc ... 9GHsB-EmUJ. Haven't tried it though :)
