What audio and MIDI devices are supported?

Post by Magic »

This is an easy question which I get asked quite often.

The short answer is, all audio and MIDI devices are supported!

Magic doesn't care about hardware -- it just uses standard protocols to communicate with your audio or MIDI device. If your device works with your Mac or PC, it will work with Magic. I haven't yet heard of anyone having trouble with a specific device, but please feel free to reply to this post if you've experienced otherwise!

Hi Eric.

I've downloaded the trial and I'm trying to find my midi controller, with no success. I'm using a mac, and it's showing up in the Mac MIDI interface, all working, and it's working with Ableton fine. But it doesn't show up as an option in Magic. I've only got input 0, input 1, and network session 1. Is there something I'm missing?

What I need to do is get it synced up to receive MIDI from Ableton, but so far I can't get it to do that or straight from the controller. Any help would be amazing. Thanks.

Sometimes the problem is that a MIDI device can only be used by one application at a time. Have you tried using your device in Magic when Ableton isn't running?
