i'm trying to replicate magic's scene in blender so i can correctly translate stuff in the other direction. what focal length does the "camera" in magic have? i'm assuming as it's a 3d space, there has to be a hardcoded focal length somewhere, right?
is it correct that the vertical distance from border to border constitutes 1 unit?
what focal length has the magic camera?
Re: what focal length has the magic camera?
When you say the focal length, do you mean the far clipping plane? That would be 100.
Actually it's 2 units -- 1 unit from the middle in each direction. There's a bit more info here: https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... nateSystemis it correct that the vertical distance from border to border constitutes 1 unit?
Re: what focal length has the magic camera?
actually i mean the continuum between wide-angle and zoomed in. a few examples:Eric wrote:When you say the focal length, do you mean the far clipping plane? That would be 100.
low focal length (wide-angle-ish):
usual focal length (35mm):
high focal length (zoomed-in-ish):
in all of these, the camera has the same coordinates.
ah right yes. thanks.Eric wrote:Actually it's 2 units -- 1 unit from the middle in each direction. There's a bit more info here: https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... nateSystem
Re: what focal length has the magic camera?
Ahh, yes, so you're talking about the angle of view (which is represented by the vertical arrow below)?
In Magic, the output window is 45 degrees top to bottom, which I think is just a "standard" lens (neither wide-angle nor zoom).Re: what focal length has the magic camera?
yes, exactly. thanks .
