Spout receiver 64 bit

Post by walmartian »

Does the 64 bit version of Magic support the spout receiver plugin? Seems it works in 32 bit version only.

Yep, it works for me :). As long as you are using the 64-bit receiver plugin of course.

Other than that though, Spout will work with a 32-bit sender -> 64 bit receiver, and vice versa.

What sender are you using?

Thanks Eric, I had forgot that the download was separate from spout install.
Thanks for the quick reply.

I have spout working Outgoing from Magic fine.
I cannot get it to Receive without crash.
I've looked for a 64bit receiver plugin, but am led to links via the spout forums that no longer exist.
I tried loading magic in 32bit via program properties to test,
which prompted me to re-license the program.
I quit out and switched back, but still had to re-license.
Oops.

Anyhow- Spout Receiver crashes when a spout sender is active. (SpoutSender demo)

Hmm, I'm not sure if I understand. Magic has a native SpoutReceiver module, which is available in both the 32 and 64 bit versions: https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... honModules. It's in the Special submenu (when you right-click to add a module).
I tried loading magic in 32bit via program properties to test,
I don't know what that means ;). You can't run a 64-bit program in 32-bit mode. If you want to run 32-bit Magic, you have to download and install it separately: https://magicmusicvisuals.com/getfullversion. But even if you use both on the same computer, you don't have to re-license it.

Try those things and let me know how it goes.

Let me start over. :)
Spout works great Outgoing from Magic(64bit).

When a Spout source is running, and I open SpoutReceiver in Magic, Magic crashes.
SpoutReciver in Magic will open with no source, but once a source is started, Magic crashes upon Sender selection.

Spout DX modes are Dx9, Buffer on, Cpu share, High performance.

Other programs (Resolume, Madrix) Are showing input from Spout fine.

Ok. I can't seem to reproduce that crash on my machines. What graphics card do you have?

Also out of curiosity, why are you using CPU mode? It's much less efficient.

I'm rocking the Intel HD4000 on a Intel i7 3770 chip.
I started switching the settings around after the crash.
(Using Texture does not work with Madrix and Resolume, cpu and shared do.)
I am looking at getting a 1060gtx soon,
but since all other programs seem to function fine Receiving spout I am assuming Magic could too.

Ok I'll look into it. Maybe those programs are using an older version of Spout, or maybe a newer one.

In the meantime you could try using the SpoutReceiver FFGL plugin, which will also work in Magic.

I installed the SpoutReceiver FFGL plugin, which I can only find in 32-bit (SpoutReceiver2.dll).
It does not show up in Magic 64.

SpoutController.dll placed in the same directory (modules>special),
Does show up- but seems to do nothing.

I've seen links to a 64bit version of SpoutReceiver, but everything leads to a invalid dropbox or googledrive.

I believe those 64 bit plugins were intended to bridge the gap at a time when some 64 bit software had yet to implement native spout support. This post was written (in 2015) while using Magic version(s) prior to 1.6 which required external spout plugins.
I would try running the spoutdxmode.exe tool (inside spout install folder) which will run a diagnostic and allow you to enable/disable different modes for troubleshooting.

I have been having this issue too. I do not crash out, but on loading a SpoutReciever in, it shows up as just black. I've been able to get the Spout to load uip using any other SpoutReciever, and I have actually gotten it to work in Magic using Spout2NDI but the framerate is abysmal. I've tried using a Freeframe plugin too but it doesn't seem to be picked up by Magic?

If anyone could help me, it'd be appreciated. This is my Spout DX:

DirectX 9c installed
DirectX 11 device available
Primary adapter : Intel
Intel(R) UHD Graphics (Display) :
Microsoft Basic Render Driver (Secondary)
Laptop system detected
NV_DX_interop extensions available
OpenGL/DX11 texture sharing succeeded
Compatible for OpenGL texture sharing

I honestly have no idea what to do. SpoutReceiver works fine in Magic on my desktop, but not my laptop.

I would try reinstalling your graphics driver. "Microsoft Basic Render Driver" doesn't seem like the correct driver.

Might also just be that the integrated graphics is not enabling the GPU (optimus if I recall) on an older laptop. Ie, laptop details usually helps this sort of discussion.
