Auto update text based on play time?

Hi all,
I'm using magic to create videos for my mixes for YouTube. I was wondering if there was a way to update text based on play time so I can update the current artist / track that is playing automatically. Looks like I can do this by creating a playlist but would need to duplicate the scene several times and update the text in each scene. I was hoping for an easier way to do this that wouldn't involve having to have multiple scenes?
