Bad FPS drop

Post by Cowsgomooooooooo »

I'm not sure is it limitation of this software or what. With a pretty elaborate scene, not locked to a frame rate, throttling at 0 or 1ms, my scene drops to 30fps. 5950x & 6800xt. CPU is only ~40% load, Gpu 80%. When I power off half the scene, i go back up to 60-70.

Any suggests or do i just have to limit the amount going on in a scene as a software limitation?

Yes, it is an unconstrained environment so you have to manage the frame rate yourself. At some point even the best GPU will go slow if you add enough effects.

GPU wasn't nearly loaded, but I assume with so much going on it may be that way. Either way, good tip! Started using input selected over Multimix for chains. Just have to ge tused to fading out manually with brightness, but seems input selector doesn't render all chains like multimix does.

Keep in mind that usage meters reflect all cores, but Magic can't always use all cores. So for example if the usage says 50%, that might mean one core is 100% and another is 0%.
