I am building a project with lots of short video clips. Simple scenes with only VideoFile-->Edges-->output. When I got to about 15 scenes the CPU maxed out and I can't run the playlist anymore due to lots of stutter. Is this simply a limitation of my 6th gen i5 CPU or is there a buffer setting somewhere in MMV that would smooth things out? It's a Surface Pro 4 with SSD and 4GB RAM, activity monitor shows it's the CPU that is maxed during the stuttering. I have turned off all the 'Edges' filters but the same stuttering happens.

Are the video clips in MP4 format? Decoding this format is very CPU-intensive.

The HAP format is designed for much easier decoding, using the power of the GPU rather than the CPU. The file sizes are MUCH bigger,and data rates far higher, but this may not be a problem if you have an SSD.

I don't know the GPU capabilities of your Surface Pro, or whether the RAM capacity will be a limitation, but converting your video clips to HAP format would be well worth trying. https://hap.video/using-hap.html

Edit: errr this is really tricky, I'm not sure how to convert my mp4s to hap!
