OpenGL driver no longer detected

Post by ElementalMike »

Hi!

I've been a happy MMV user for several months now, using several times a week.

Just today I exported a video successfully, then shut down MMV. When I came back later to make modifications to the scenes I noticed the Magic window was completely blank, with no status info; File->Export was greyed out; and Help->OpenGL info is effectively empty

Code: Select all

Version:

Vendor:

Maximum RGBA Texture Size: 0x0 pixels

Maximum Renderbuffer Size: 0x0 pixels

Extensions:
In the time between usage I did not chamge hardware, install any software, reboot, or make any changes to my system. Literally only browsed with the already open browser and streamed a film off NetFlix.

For troubleshooting I rebooted -- many times during this process. I updated windows, installed the latest nvidia drivers, and more. Magic still does not detect my nvidia card. I also checked other opengl apps, and tested all of them to ensure they were using my nvidia card. In EVERY case my nvidia card, opengl, and cuda were detected and operated at expected speeds/framerates.

I've tested this both with MMV 2.22 and 2.3b1. Same result. Both we fully functional earlier today.

What could have changed on my computer that only MMV would stop detecting my nvidia card? What am I missing?

Hmm. Not something I've heard of before. Do you have a laptop with Optimus dual graphics (Intel+Nvidia)?

Desktop with Nvidia 1080, no video built into the motherboard.

Ok. Well the first thing to always try is Help > Reset All Settings.

Oh, I had not tried that!

It worked!

Now I'm wondering what broke to see if I can re-produce that state.

Well, nothing I did in the last 2 days (that I remember) seemed to reproduce the failed condition, sorry I cannot file a more formal bug report.

That said, the suggestion to reset worked.

Thank you for getting me back on track!
