Suitable MBP for live performance

Post by OblongBox »

Hey,

Previously I was using a MPB 2013, 16gig ram intel HD graphics built in and NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M. Render times were very long.

I am looking for something that can handle both reduced render times without loss of quality and also be used for heavy load Traktor Pro 4 decks, 1 rotating as sample, large library, and MMV at the same time for live performance.

Is one laptop enough or would it be better running two?

Can a 2015 MPB handle it all or?

If it can't, has anyone done it with a MPB of that era and an external Apple GPU?

Having a hard time finding comparable render times.

Edit: Stuck on mac, due to Logic.

Thanks for time taken for any replies

Since I DJ and do the visuals at the same time I had the same thoughts as you.
I decided to get another MBP so in case one fails it's only dark or silent not both :-D
I use a MacBook Pro, Retina, Mid 2012, 16GB, since it has a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 1024 MB and I got it for a decent price refurbished on eBay.
So far this was a good choice. For some of the GLSLShaders it is not performant enough, but for everything else, I didn't have performance issues yet.
Maybe that helps.
