Realtek Audio not initializing after Win 10 update

Post by andrehickman »

Overnight my Windows 10 did an update, and now when I start the program it cannot initialize the Realtek mic input. The mic input works just fine in windows, and I can see my audio levels in the device settings. Magic will just not initialize it, and therefore it is not an input option anymore.

I updated to the most recent audio drivers afterwards and I am on the latest version of Magic. Please help.

Sounds like your device properties might have changed, and Magic is trying to start the device with the old properties.

You can try removing the old properties by doing the following:
1. Make sure Magic isn't running
2. Navigate to C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming\MAGIC
3. Open MAGIC_1_0.xml (this is the Magic preferences file) in a text editor
4. Delete any lines that have a reference to your audio device, such as "audioDevice" and "bufferSize"
5. Save the file and re-start Magic.

Let me know if it helps.
