Playback not working

Post by Conmantheman »

Hello,

I am using the following computer:
Mac mini
Processor: 2.6 GHz Intel Core i5
Memory: 16Gb RAM
Graphics: Intel Iris 1536 MB
OS: Sierra Version 10.12.6

Magic Version: 2.1

When I load basic audio files (mp3 and aac) into magic, assign audio file to source, and press play audio does not play back.

Please advise.

In System Preferences, what sound output device is selected?

I have my 1st generation Scarlett 18i8 Audio Interface (over USB) selected.

Whats weird is that it actually seems to work intermittently. For example I left magic open on my computer and left the computer in sleep mode for a day, when I opened magic playback worked. When I closed magic and reopened magic playback did not work.

Switching between output sources does not appear to help. Please advise.

In System Preferences, try setting your default sound output device to the Built-In Output. Let me know if it helps.

You have hit the nail on the head, when I turn my Scarlet interface off, select built in speakers magic works fine.

Do you know if there is a fix for the Scarlett 18i8 1st generation interface? If not I'll use my internal speakers, I mostly use magic for pre-recorded projects, but it would be nice to use my interface in concert with Magic for live audio/visual projects with 8 audio inputs...

The first thing I would try is setting the sample rate to 44100 or 48000. Sometimes sounds cards work better at those rates.

Also, you might still be able to use the Scarlet for input even if your output device is the Built-in Output. Have you tried?
