value changes in modules during export to movie?

Post by tokyotokyo »

Is it possible to change parameters in modules during export to movie? For example, I want to use my mouse to play with a value within a module raising it up or down and export those changes as a video.

If this is not possible, how do I export video performance with live tweeking of values of the modules?

thanks again,

Rory

Hi Rory, movie exporting is an offline process, meaning it's not done in real-time and therefore it isn't possible to make any changes to your project. But the advantage is that you will get perfect-quality movies without any dropped frames.

If you want your modules to change over the course of your movie, my first suggestion would be to investigate how to use modifiers (https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... oModifiers) and also the Playlist (https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... listWindow). These are the things that allow you to create scenes that "evolve" over time.

Another option is to use Magic's MIDI recording feature (See the "Recording MIDI Input" section in the MIDI Input chapter: https://magicmusicvisuals.com/downloads ... #MIDIInput). You can record live MIDI input to a file, and then assign your module values to the file. The file values will be read during the movie export.

If you really want to capture Magic output in real-time, you can always use some kind of desktop video grabbing utility (such as the one included with the QuickTime player), but you will severely impact your frame rate and get a lot of dropped frames.

The best real-time capture solution is to use a hardware recorder connected to your computer's HDMI output. This way you are much less likely to drop frames. But it can still happen.
