Multiple audio inputs- recommended interfaces?

Post by georgeberlin »

Hello!

I want to map 4 audio inputs in Magic Music Visuals so I can hit 4 different drums and light up 4 different spots separately...any recommended interfaces that MMV will see as having distinct 4 inputs?

Lots of '4 in/4 out' models that are really 4 inputs with 2 stereo outputs or just all 4 as one stereo pair out and so on. Also, don't need a fancy pants high end recording, so what's out there for less than a few hundred dollars? Anyone had success with something they can point to?

Or am I missing some way to use multiple 2 input interfaces? Or hook up the front and back mics on my computer as separate inputs all at once?

Thanks- love the software!

Hey George, personally I've been using the M-Audio Delta 1010LT for many years now. It has 8 analog ins/outs, but it's a PCI interface so it's for desktops only, and I don't think it's being manufactured any more. If you have a desktop you might see if you can get a used one on eBay.

I also have the M-Audio FastTrack Pro, which only has 2 analog inputs, and I think it's also out of production. But, I mention it because I think M-Audio makes good products. I've never had any problems. Just quickly looking at the M-Audio web site, you might want to look at the "M-Track Quad" (http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/MTrackQuad.html) which appears to have 4 analog ins/outs.

I know some of my customers have also used such products as the FireFace400 (http://www.rme-audio.de/en_products_fireface_400.php) and the Motu UltraLite (http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/ultralite-mk3), but they are more expensive.

Unfortunately you can't yet use more than one audio device simultaneously with Magic, but we are working on it. :)
