Re: Magic Keyboard source

here is the link to the .3ds file I used (a simple cylinder) https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B-sV2tjTILEYX0J5NnVmZldOLWM Using the polygon, you should see at least a rank of 39 polygons in the Keyboard39 scene. Do you have it? The 39 notes are mapped starting from midi note 36. Depending on your k...

Magic Keyboard source

As promised, here is a 39 keys visual keyboard, reacting to midi notes from a controler or a midifile. This is the base project I've used for my videos. I do't know how to add 3d files in attachment, so I used a simple polygon. Just replace it with your 3D model. 3 scenes, one for the model basic se...

Re: new WIP video to my track "Turbulence of time II"

Lots of work in one and impressive result. Hey Doctor, your new Tardis looks good! (It's smaller outside) I wish I could make such textured models for my midi virtual instruments. I don't have 3DSmax or any decent modeler. I'm intrigued by your "baking" process. Is it a feature from 3DS ma...

Just a quick look: it can export as obj. All good for some magic models.
Thank you very much!

loop in the audio/midi player

While I was working on my latest projects, I often had to replay several times a part of my song to refine things. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
Don't know if it can be done, but It could be useful to have loop points or start/end points in the audio/midifile player.

Re: Magic Visual Keyboard round 4

Yes I agree, the spider drummer looks a bit thin. In my first attempt I made it bigger but I needed some space to put the 2 other keyboards for the demo. The solo keyboard is my first model a flat 39 keys, through a spherical mapping with a sine osc movement. I wish I could use more detailed 3D mode...

Magic Visual Keyboard round 4

I now have a virtual drummer and some keyboards all playing through midi and audio files. No sync problems noticed here. All is done in one renderd scene. I used midi CCs to show/hide elements. Colors are not tasty and models are very basic, this is more a proof-of-concept. The hardest work is done,...

Thank you for this topic, I've learned a lot. I was afraid to use expressions. Now you have cleared the way a bit: I'm still afraid but I have some example to cut my teeth ;-)

Very clever and elegant solution for the Z sorting, hats off!

Re: Time-based activity

I've already used midfiles and wav files together, exported from a Cubase song, and didn't notice any sync issues. With my current work I use wav stems, midi files for some parts (drums, lead) and another midi file, set on a specific channel, for controllers. One thing I noticed in Cubase: you have ...

update question

I want to update to 2.0 but on another computer. I currently use Magic Performer on an 7 years old laptop. This poor guy will die sooner or later, and I have a good machine in my audio studio, but the studio doesn't have an internet connection. Is it possible to transfer my licence to this computer?

Re: Some feature Ideas

I really like the number 4) "resonant displacer" I'm currently working in MMV with midi and building visual intruments combining 2D and 3D. I tried to build a resonant string for a harp-like visual, but the result is not perfect, it's a fake vibration produced by sine wave lfo. With your m...

Magic Visual midi Keyboard

Third test with midifile. This one shows a 25 keys round keyboard and some other goodies. The audio file is composed in Cubase, allowing to control Magic parameters with midi CCs. Song is then exported as audio and midifile (notes and automated controls). Currently working on more complex models: ge...

Re: midi visual keyboard

2d test. I made a midi song in Cubase. I've found a nice setup: Midi out is connected to Cubase and Magic so I can work visuals and music together. The song was then exported as wav file (for soundtrack only) and as midifile: 2 channels: ch1 for synth notes and all the midi CCs, ch 2 for drums (back...

Thanks Sadler.
The live control can't be seen in these rendered movies but I can go gradually from one to another sort of visual by adjusting knobs on my midi keyboard.
I'll put another footage for this when V2 will be released.

midi visual keyboard

Prototype of a midi keyboard, using 2.0b. It can read midifiles and/or live midi input. Parameter of the scene can be controlled by midi CCs. (model ,color, movement, position, background). I've used a lot of globals in this one. No hiccups during the building process, all is running fine on an old ...

I've used the input selector for shaders mapped to a midi controller and didn't have this issue. (I used scale and step for modifiers)
