Re: Upgraded Mac, but performance the same?

I assume you have the base level 512GB model. This is a well documented issue. the 512 GB SSD in the MacBook Pro 14 with M1 Pro is actually 18% faster in writes (3,450 MB/s) and 50% faster in reads (4,081 MB/s) than the new 512 GB MacBook Pro 14 (2,929 MB/s write and 2,703 MB/s read) with M2 Pro in ...

Re: Couldn't open Device - Voicemeeter ASIO

Any program running ASIO will take eclusive control over the interface and make it unavailable to other applications,. Some devices are reluctant to "release" the driver when exiting a program. Go to the sound control panel in windows and disable any devices you aren't utilizing and make s...

Custom windows touchscreen controllers

Thought I would post links to some of the software I use for designing interfaces for midi control of Magic. There seems to be many options for Android and iOS, here are a few options for Windows if you want to design a custom gui. Surface editor /Free- Good basic program for designing custom touchs...

Re: Spout receiver 64 bit

I believe those 64 bit plugins were intended to bridge the gap at a time when some 64 bit software had yet to implement native spout support. This post was written (in 2015) while using Magic version(s) prior to 1.6 which required external spout plugins. I would try running the spoutdxmode.exe tool ...

Re: MIDI Note On/Off/Velocity

Thanks Eric,
Not sure how I missed that, my apologies. Posted 2016.....I've been a fool!
Thanks again for the great software and support, hard to believe it has been four years.
Take care!

MIDI Note On/Off/Velocity

When mapping switches -e.g bypass, power or anything with a check box, Magic responds to both note on and note off signals making the button a momentary instead of a toggle. I don't know if there is a current solution within Magic, in the past I have used Midi-ox to filter note-off messages unfortun...

Re: Track Midi Control Data

Another way to do this is record midi automation/envelopes in a daw (Ableton) and route to Magic, this allows you to automate multiple parameters and recall them easily. You need a virtual midi application (RTPmidi, loopBe, etc.) for routing. I use RTPmidi for the added ability to route to other mac...

Re: Using Kinect with Magic

Hi David, You could try using http://www.visikord.com , it is based off the old milkdrop visualization software and allows you to use a Kinect (360 or One) and route live to Magic via Spout. He just released a free version that should be enough for your needs, although the paid version has some cool ...

Re: Adding delay to sync with audio/video for streaming?

You might try using a virtual audio cable (voicemeeter, soundflower) to route audio from OBS to Magic rather than direct line-in. I don't use OBS but I believe it has audio output monitoring capabilities.
Good luck,
David

Re: Supporting installation on Windows Server

This might be because you do not have media player services enabled on the server, try installing “ Desktop Experience “ feature from the server manager, reboot the server after installing the feature and then you will see the windows media player and related services.
Good luck,
David

Re: merging projectors with multi-display-adapters

Displayport 1.2 and HDMI 1.3 serve different needs. HDMI has bi-directional audio and can carry ethernet data. Usually best suited for home theater. Displayport currently has more bandwidth, but the main advantage is the ability to daisy chain monitors/projectors, IF said monitors/projectors have bo...

Keystroke control.

For those without midi gear or with limitations on midi gear they already own. Basically the ability to map keyboard characters (qwerty) to parameters. For midi gear that is hard mapped it is a great tool in combination with a midi keystroke translator. You could also do things like hacking a blueto...

Re: Playlist MIDI Control

Anders, Unfortunately I am not a good programmer, therefore writing scripts makes smoke come out of my ears. If you use Bomes midi translator you can convert midi to keystroke ( for software that supports midi keyboard, unfortunately magic does not have this functionality at the time). For Ableton l...

Re: Playlist MIDI Control

Hey Anders! As seen in the picture below, click the filter button in midi-ox (blue arrow), then check 'note off', the 'midi channel', and make double sure you check 'filter out data as well as display' or it won't filter data. You can save your config in midi-ox as well. Allen & Heath products a...

Re: Playlist MIDI Control

Actually you have four programmable pad banks, so you could control 64 scenes using all four banks. To use the auto fill on the other banks you have to tell it the first note e.g bank 2 first note: 16, bank 3 first note 32 , bank four first note 48. I need to test a second Orbit starting w...

Awesome! :D Yeah, it works great with Magic, I love the ability to custom map and customize colors.
And like you said it's solidly built. Kind of interesting that the software is made in max/msp.

As long as you are using the 64-bit receiver plugin of course

Thanks Eric, I had forgot that the download was separate from spout install.
Thanks for the quick reply.
