Re: Possible to achieve this effect?

Cool, thanks. I was familiar with that ISF site, but I guess not with which kind of dithering I needed. I've been messing around with it - definitely close to what I was after. The main issue I'm having is getting that 'refined' look like the video, with very few lines around the objects. It's alway...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9p_Si21ig7c&list=PLjEpdah_kOgfhdncO5YfjdQY9hFzPq-2r&index=35&ab_channel=FlightlessRecords I know it's a kind of dithering effect, but the ISF 'Dither/Bayer" isn't really doing it and I know there must be more to it. I think the actual video uses After...

Re: Newbie needing Magic files!

If you have a few weeks, you’ve definitely got time to learn enough to get some nice visuals together - I’ve done that for a similar length set within a similar time frame, and with not much expertise. The thing about Magic is once you start playing with even the fairly basic stuff, you can get some...

Wow! Nailed it. Thanks so much. You really know your way around Magic, that's for sure. I wouldn't have worked that out in a million years (well, maybe the scale/offset thing, but not the expression :).

Re: How to create a control range that starts with a negative value using MIDI controller

Hi. Thanks for the reply. Ok, so I'll try and describe it better: Imagine a MIDI controller with knobs that have a start and stop point, as opposed to infinite (as is the case on my Korg Nanokontrol). I want to assign a knob to a function - e.g: the 'X' on a 'Scale' module, but I want the range to s...

How to create a control range that starts with a negative value using MIDI controller

Hi.

I'm trying to make a control value with a range that starts from -20 to +20 (or any values), i.e: when the MIDI control knob is stopped at 0 (fully anti-clockwise) it's -20 and when it's fully clockwise it's +20. Can't quite work it out using modifiers (tried 'offset' but no joy)

Thanks.

"Param range" and "use as toggle" missing from MIDI options?

Hi. Wonder if anyone can help? Screenshots URLs: the first being what I'm seeing, the second being the (correct one) from the MMV manual. I'm using a Korg Nanokontrol Mk 2 (not that I think that's relevant here) and a knob for CC. I'm sure it's just something I've missed, but can't work it out. Than...

Re: HELP ! Hw suggestion ... (another newbie's question)

Well, I use an Asus GL702VM and it handles all the stuff you're talking about well. Something like that is going to cost at least £1000/ Euro, but you need something similar once you start running multiple 3d shaders with effects and video. There's loads of choice at that price point, obviously, so ...

Control the speed of random modifier

Hi folks.

As above - I have a random modifier on an input selector and would like control of how quickly it sends a random value out.

Also, I guess I need to put a step modifier in there somewhere so that it increments in whole numbers?

Thanks for any help.

Cheers.

Random video start time

Hi. I'm trying to get a video to have a different start time every time the scene is played in a playlist, either manually or on auto advance. Re: Really slow FPS with...no reason?

Yeah, it would appear that your system just can't keep up with more than one thing going on. You really need a proper dedicated GPU like an Nvidia GTX, no less than a 600 series, but ideally better, especially as your scenes get more complex and you need to run other software simultaneously. Also, l...

Re: Really slow FPS with...no reason?

You probably don't want to hear this, but your system specs are pushing it a bit for realtime graphics stuff. That Intel Iris is fairly basic and i5s come in a few shapes, some of which are also not really up to the task. I'd try going through a few GLSL shaders, just on their own and see what frame...

Re: Assign a MIDI button to each input on Input Selector

Well, that's a useful tip anyway, but yeah, it's not quite what we're after. Korg NK is ok, by the way. Cheap and cheerful, with plenty of encoders. Great for Magic, really. Not rugged, though. Definitely a bit toy, but it works. Anyway, my actual scenario is that I'm going to be doing about six hou...

Assign a MIDI button to each input on Input Selector

Hi. The picture shows a simple demo scene, in which I'd like to use the input selector to layer the scene. I can use a slider on my MIDI controller to go up and down inputs, but I'd really like a way of assigning each one to an individual button (I've got a little Korg nanoKontrol 2) and/or assignin...

Hi. Thanks for that. It's cool, but not quite there - unless I'm missing something - what happens with that is that each letter disappears after the last one. Re: Reveal of text using beat triggers

Yes, that was kind of my first idea, but I need the text to remain on screen once triggered. It seems like that will just show each letter one after the other, but with the last one disappearing. Maybe there's a solution to that?

Hi. The title is a bit off - I couldn't quite think of a way to describe it. The nearest I got was a mask which shrunk on the x-...
