My process for exporting from Magic is to make it the highest quality possible. I export at 120 Mbits and then use handbrake or ffmpeg to re-encode it until it is small enough for whatever the project requires. Handbrake is especially effective for getting high quality at a small size.

As far as the spider, another option might be to just make the arms travel a lot further? For instance, if they were moving twice the distance per beat, then they would look much faster and match the tempo of the drums better.

If you have Optimus graphics it could be a problem where the DVI output is driven by the Intel graphics rather than NVIDIA. Then you might get the symptoms you describe. Do you see a Messagebox error at any time such as "Cannot create DirectX/OpenGL interop" ? This sounds like the problem...

Another option: You can just leave your Magic scenes running in Magic itself and use Spout or Syphon instead of exporting them and loading them in Resolume. My guess is the issue is on the Vegas side. But to test it, you need to find the exact number of frames in your Magic mp4 output. Assuming you rendered at 60 fps, then that number should be 480. I would say h.264 in an MP4 container is your best bet for most videos. I only use MOV if I need to preserve an alpha transparency (or if I need it to be Resolume native DXV).
