Forgot to mention that it would be very useful to know if anyone else has experienced similar issues during the upgrade or this is let's say, a glitch on my machine.
The device appears on the system but not in Magic anymore.
Cheers

Audio source not recognised
I use a Behringer mixing desk to control the audio that goes into Magic.
Never had any issues before, but now that I've updated to 2.3 is not showing.
Could you please, provide a previous version so I can instal and check if it shows up?
Thanks!

Re: I can't update to version 2.3
I've just uninstalled the older version with APPCLEANER and I could finally update to 2.3 without further issues.
And now I just seen there is 2.31b1. Oh, well...
Cheers!

Thanks Eric, will uninstall and report to see if that is what is causing the issue.

Re: I can't update to version 2.3
Hey, I had the same exact problem on mac. Downloading and installing doesn't work for me. I've requested a new download from the page and it was the same output. I will try to 'uninstall' magic using AppCleaner and run the installer again. I'm not doing it right now because I need to output a video ...

Re: Colour coding modules
Fantastic, had no idea about the "Don't Minimize Annotations" option, I barely access that part of the menu. But that tip is also very helpful, thanks. I see what you mean about the layout, it seems to make quite a difference on it once that option is activated, and IMO is more pleasant to...

Audio Visualiser Reference Project
Hi everyone, just wanted to share with you a basic visualiser that I did create for me and my students to check the raw values of the audio affecting the visuals. Since Magic doesn't have a native audio reference, I had to come out with some visual guide to help. The outcome I produced is pretty cru...

Colour coding modules
When a scene gets too busy with modules and becomes hard to identify its different sections, we can use a neat trick to colour code the modules. -Select the module or group of modules that you want to tag with colour. -Right click for contextual menu and select 'Show Annotation'. -Right click for co...

Re: Drag n Drop
Hey! +1 to the drag and drop feature, please. :D if drag n drop would autogenerate the module, it could speed up the workflow massively. * a movie file thrown on to the checkerboard would create a movie module with the file linked * an image file an image module * a folder with images an image folde...

Re: Broken/missing Links
I hear your pain, the broken/missing links is a cumbersome issue, because it creates a bottleneck on creativity when using magic with videos. You have to either minimise the amount of clips or to adapt your workflow to the interface, which is a bit of a paradox, since the interface itself aims to be...

Re: Broken/missing Links
Choosing the wrong file for example. And the program wouldn't know it's the wrong file. I see, that may be the reason behind Visual Jockey doing it on a folder without subfolders. It would force everyclip to have a unique name. I guess it could be possible to add extra layers of security, like ensu...

Re: Broken/missing Links
Can you give me an example of an app that has that feature? exactly like that, actually no, but that is why we are here in the forums. :D Adobe has a relinking feature for Premiere and After Effects , that is ‘folder-relative’ based, when you link one asset it automatically checks for other missing...

Re: Broken/missing Links
I don't have any update at the moment, but I will be sure to keep the issue in mind when considering upcoming features. Excellent, thanks. The 'collect assets' feature is really fantastic for sharing or archiving projects but it actually goes in the opposite direction of what I am after :D Collecti...

Nice one, thanks.
I like to know that I’m not the only one that is missing such features.
It would be interesting to know if Eric has any update about it.
Cheers!

Broken/missing Links
Hi everyone, At the moment we get a warning message with a list of broken links which we need to screengrab, because you won’t get back that info once you click the OK button, and you need to click that button because you can’t do anything otherwise. After that, the only visual indication that suppo...

Re: Dual Shock 3 Test
Hey, I am looking to do the same but using the xy pad from touchosc but I have trouble as the output signal gives the same value to X & Y, which means the object moves only on diagonal. Did you had any similar issues or in your case or your software managed it by itself? if not, how did you sort...

Re: Video offsetting
Is there anyway to offset a video in Magic, without cutting any of the content out? I want them to have different start positions, so they all dont loop exactly the same way, at the same time. Hey! In case you haven't figured by now, you can also use 'Goto Start ' alongside 'Start Time'. 'Goto Star...

Re: Preview on Image module
I would like to add to this idea, but instead of a preview for the image module only, this could be a preview module in itself, to be inserted at any stage of the structure, allowing to see what is connected on the left side of the module while bypassing the output signal on to the magic scene outpu...

Re: Timeline & Waveform
Think like the dj software Traktor and Ableton - where the controller allows real time effect changes, but also records the performance as the effects are being changed - so after your performance, you can go back on a linear timeline to change / tweak your recorded performance. - non live can go i...

Re: Can I play a clip backward?
so we used an existing video engine called FFmpeg ( https://www.ffmpeg.org/ ), which supports tons of codecs. With a bit more of testing, I can see that actually the video support is really good, I have been able to play even .flv without any hassle, the part I most enjoy is the fact that you can c...

Re: Can I play a clip backward?
I see, your explanation does ring a bell. I recall VJO (my old vj software of choice) having different modules even for different containers, I assume now that the reason may well be what you said. Still, the need of video scratching or shifting playing direction is massive on the type of wo...

Re: Can I play a clip backward?
Hi Eric, sorry to jump on this (possibly closed) thread but that is precisely what I am after and I am gutted to hear Magic can't do that. I have no idea how the software works, but sure must be a solution: many other VJ software are able to scratch video or ping pong playing, because the problem ar...
