Re: polygon creation with wireframe

Hi Terry, I think the simpler implementation you described would be completely adequate, where you adjust the x and y coordinates seperately - I actually can't see a need to edit them both together. In fact the more I think about it, having a wireframe controlled by a mouse, as I originally thought,...

Re: polygon creation with wireframe

Yes, I thought that it would be complicated, specifically relating to the mouse pointer. I'm still thinking if there's some workaround. What about a polygon module where you could create vertices, each with an x / y parameter, and the ability to 'add' vertices, so you could create as many sides as y...

polygon creation with wireframe

Hi, I'm doubtful this would be easy to do, but maybe I'm wrong... The ability to create a polygon using a mouse to point and click, creating a box on each corner (wireframe), so you could drag each corner into position and make a complicated shape, e.g. a star or an abstract polygon. Why? Because th...

Re: Video mapping showreel

Hi Sadler, I'm not sure what you mean by: Chasers and other (cliche?) PM effects, achieving accurate predictable perspective foreshortening, Regarding the other stuff I've tried to keep the tutorial as simple as possible, not to discourage people new to it. But I'm open to adapt it. Also I was plann...

Re: Video mapping showreel

Hi Sadler,

I'm actually planning to make a tutorial soon showing how to do video mapping with magic (using a projector). I'm going to try and keep it as basic as possible, but if you have any specific questions please let me know!

Enjoy!

Re: showreel 2018

Looks like your heading down the projection mapping route in those clips, assuming the clocks were circular screens. Have you had many opportunities to develop content for a specific stage setup? Who in the whole production decides how the visuals will be integrated? Yes the screens were circular. ...

showreel 2018

A selection of clips from music events where I was doing the visuals.

Usually I make and hang the screens, and then project onto them with a projector.

All projects were done in Magic.

Re: HDMI WIFI with magic

Thanks Eric, that's a perfect reply. I don't really need the wifi, I was just curious if it would work, and what that could lead to in possibilities. But the limitations you mention; I'm convinced it's a pointless endeavour. At least until a larger bandwith / more reliable wireless technology. Also ...

HDMI WIFI with magic

Hi, I'm researching wireless dongles and I'm thinking about how I can connect my laptop (Windows 8) to a projector wirelessly. Some new projectors have wifi built in, but I'm thinking of a generic wireless HDMI dongle that would plug into the projector, and then I would connect to it from my laptop....

Re: connecting multiple connectors at once

Great, thanks again.

I've just downloaded the latest manual to pdf so I'll read through it and see what else I've missed (or what's been added) :-)

Re: disable jump to duplicated scene

yep thanks, that covers it... I didn't consider closing the magic window and using the preview window instead (I always used it as an extra).
Thanks!

disable jump to duplicated scene

Hi, maybe I'm missing a trick, but when I duplicate a scene, it automatically jumps to it, which is often undesirable. Perhaps there could be an option to disable it, but maybe simpler would be to just disable it as normal - you can always click on it to load it.

connecting multiple connectors at once

Hi, is it possible to connect multiple modules to one module quickly, without having to drag a connection for each one? I often find myself connecting many modules (for example to an input selector module), and if there was a quicker way it would increase the workflow rate a lot.

Thanks,
Matthew

Thanks. Yeah I've developed the habit of always recording, worth doing!

my VJ showreel

I just made myself a showreel video of my VJ work from various events over the years, the only program I was using for these was magic.

from techno night...

This is from a couple weeks ago, my projection at some club in Prague. It was projected using a 'short-throw' projector onto 2 layers of clear netting, with a white backdrop. Magic is the only program I was using, and a quite simple setup within magic with basic effects. https://www.youtube.com/watc...

Re: how do the pros make visuals?

Hi Blackdot, I watched the Moderat video - it actually didn't seem so perfectly synced to me... I wouldn't underestimate how perceptually, our brains sync audio to video even if there is only close syncing in reality. For example, sometimes I use (my) video clips which were made for songs at a certa...

Re: MULTIPLE REQUESTS

No worries!

I just checked the disable midi input in various different arrangements, and it works fine, even with both programs (video and music) open, I can get the midi where I want it. Thanks! Sometimes I miss the obvious stuff
