Can't Open any File
I saved a project, and upon opening it again, Magic is showing the default empty scene. I then made a simple test save file of just a polygon plugged in. Tried to open that, and still blank project file is loaded. Finally, I decided to open some of the sample projects, and they load empty as well. I...

Midi Device Detection
I'm not sure how to search if this was previously mentioned: Currently, software I use alongside MMV waits until I assign a MIDI device before I can use it, then I can open up MMV and it automatically "absorbs" any devices that haven't been claimed by currently open software. If I open MMV...

Re: Hard Cut Playlist
True, yet ignoring the fact of a "third" scene... even if the input is repeated (such as a double entry to the same scene) it'll hard cut to that scene. Moreso, if a scene is already in focus, a secondary input to that scene will restart the scene's node at 0 position. Perhaps I'll look in...

Hard Cut Playlist
When I have scenes in the playlist to choose from (set to crossfade at 5sec), sending an input during a transition will stop in the middle of the transition, and hard cut to the other scene selected. Is there a way to over-ride this function and "wait" until the transition completes before...

Re: Guide for using OSC
The method I've used for operating the playlist from an external OSC source is as follows: Software (in this case "Chataigne"): Ensure a module is sending across OSC to the local address (ie 127.0.0.1) The custom message that OSC should be sending = /myMessage (or something similar) Set th...

Re: Identifying audio bands
Are you looking to stay within Magic, or are you interested in open-source software, externally?
I happen to use a program called "chataigne" that can easily break bands into sections, and send across OSC nicely into magic.

Minimize module, keep Bypass & Power
A function suggestion for workflow - when minimizing a module, keep its bypass and power buttons available for quick access, instead of having to maximize the module, bypass or power toggle, then minimize again.

I use OBS and Magic at the same time. If I have a video capture device as a source in OBS that uses the camera, and I open up Magic Music Visuals, the camera will be unavailable to use elsewhere. I would suggest restarting your PC/Mac, and only opening Magic Music Visuals. Try to add your elGato cam...

Previous to Magic 2.3, I was able to run a spoutsender32.dll as a module. Now that Magic is risen to exclusively 64bit, I cannot seem to find a replacement module in 64bit that would operate in the same fashion. Is this a topic I should bring to the spout forums, instead of here? Thanks for your hel...

When learning the MIDI/OSC parameter to trigger the scene in the playlist, it is only receiving the fact that I'm sending a message to that address, via that port. When sending OSC arguments to modules in Magic, I can adjust values exactly how there appear when sent. (ie 0.1 or 2.5 etc) However, I'd like to control the playlist scenes. When linking a parameter, the only information that is sent is "/address , type of value (int32), and port". Is ther...

All definitions are locally defined. If you have not specified what "y" is determined to be, then it will not know what you mean when you make an "if/else y" statement. May I ask what you want "Y" to be? You could create a global parameter called "Yvalue" for ...

Re: Midi value not triggering.
This worked! Thank you!
My output from my instrument is not adjustable, so I sent it again thru my translator with a 20ms delay between note on and note off output. Magic is now receiving the data as intended, and displaying the correct values.

For the GPU - when the scene is blank, at rest, I get 1800-2000fps. When I start to add effects and load it, the frame rate drops down to about 25-30 fps, and the "3D" output reads only 40-50% The other metrics stay really low at 8-10% usage. My current workflow seems to bog down when I ad...
